The purpose of the study is to characterize key gaps in the system of standardization and certification of products. Introduction. It has been proven that the consequences we have identified illustrate the critical importance of eliminating gaps and problems in product standardization and certification systems. Stakeholders at all levels must collaborate to ensure that these systems are robust, adaptive and inclusive, protecting not only economic interests but also public health, environmental sustainability and the equitable development of global markets. Methods. It has been established that standardization and certification of products is the basis on which modern economies build trust between consumers and producers, ensure safety and quality, and facilitate international trade. Gaps in the modern system of standardization and certification of products are highlighted. Results. It has been determined that ignoring gaps and problems in the product standardization and certification system can have a wide range of negative consequences that go beyond the immediate economic consequences and affect consumer safety, environmental sustainability and the overall integrity of global markets. Diversity in standards and certification procedures between countries has been shown to create barriers to international trade. The lack of universal standards makes it difficult to export and import goods, as companies have to adapt their products to different regional requirements. It has been determined that formidability and accessibility are additional problems in the standardization and certification process. The procedures for obtaining certifications can be complex, opaque and expensive, making it difficult for small businesses to operate. Conclusion. It has been proven that, from an economic point of view, inconsistencies and gaps in standardization and certification systems can create significant barriers to international trade. Companies faced with heterogeneity in regional and national standards may incur higher costs and longer time to market for their products.
