Abstract

Introduction. This article provides a comprehensive theoretical justification and systematization of contemporary business development strategies within the BANI (Brittle, Anxious, Nonlinear, Incomprehensible) paradigm. It is demonstrated that the pace of global transformations in recent decades has led to the exhaustion of the potential of traditional management models, which were based on linear extrapolation and long-term forecasting. The authors trace the genesis of management concepts from the VUCA model to the latest approaches of the «new reality», where business resilience is determined not by the accuracy of forecasts, but by the speed of organizational response and the ability to expand functional capabilities. Purpose. This study examines the evolutionary hierarchy of strategic responses to the challenges of nonlinearity and chaos. Methods. It explores the essence of adaptive management through K. Lee’s metaphors of the «compass» and the «gyroscope», which combine iterative learning with institutional stability. The transformation of agility from a manufacturing term into a management philosophy that ensures the preventive adaptation of business models is analyzed. Particular attention is paid to D. Tis’s theory of dynamic capabilities as a tool for cognitive renewal of the organization, where error becomes a necessary element of learning. Results. The transition from the concept of resilience (a system’s ability to «bounce back» after a shock) to a higher level of strategic development – anti-fragility according to N. Taleb – is substantiated. It is demonstrated that in the context of the BANI world, anti-fragility allows businesses not merely to survive, but to capitalize on environmental volatility for exponential growth. It is determined that the limits of individual anti-fragility are overcome through the implementation of an ecosystemic approach, which, based on network synergy and «co-opetition», ensures collective resilience. Conclusion. The research results are systematized in the form of an original matrix for comparing strategic concepts, which allows management to select relevant tools depending on the severity of the destructive effects of chaos.
